Creating Your 12 Week Year Plan

Annualized thinking and planning more often than not leads to less than optimal performance. Stop thinking in terms of a year; instead focus on shorter time frames.

Creating a 12 week year can be a powerful tool for achieving your goals and maximizing your productivity. By focusing on a shorter time frame, you can stay focused on the tasks that matter most and make steady progress towards your larger objectives. Here are some tips for creating your own 12 week year goals:

Start by identifying your top priorities. Take some time to think about what you want to accomplish in the next 12 weeks and what you need to focus on to make that happen. This could be anything from completing a project at work to starting a new exercise routine.

  1. Break your goals down into smaller tasks. It can be overwhelming to try and tackle a big goal all at once. Instead, break it down into smaller, more manageable tasks that you can work on each week. This will help you stay on track and make progress consistently.

  2. Set specific and measurable goals. Make sure your goals are specific and measurable so you know exactly what you need to do to achieve them. For example, instead of saying "I want to get in shape," you could say "I want to lose 10 pounds in the next 12 weeks by exercising for 30 minutes at least 3 times a week."

  3. Make a plan for how you will achieve your goals. Once you have your goals and tasks defined, create a plan for how you will achieve them. This might include scheduling time in your calendar, setting reminders, or finding an accountability partner.

  4. Track your progress. It's important to regularly track your progress to see how you are doing and make any necessary adjustments. This could be as simple as keeping a journal or using a spreadsheet to track your progress.
